Shopping is changing permanently. AI is no longer just helping customers find products - it is completing the entire purchase on their behalf. ChatGPT now shows product cards with checkout for Shopify and Stripe merchants. Perplexity compares products and prices in real time. Amazon Rufus lets customers shop conversationally inside the Amazon app. Gemini pulls from Google Shopping, maps, and reviews with Google Pay checkout potential. This shift - from AI as research assistant to AI as purchasing agent - is called agentic commerce. It is rolling out now, not in the future.
